Help your UK boarding school clients find their match — using the same account they already have.
BoardingMatch is a two-sided platform: students upload their grades, schools browse and invite. We don't offer a separate consultant account — but consultants are welcome. You simply sign in as your client, using the credentials your family shares with you.
How it works
- 1
Your client signs up
They register with their own personal email (parent or student). The account is theirs, with their name and their message history.
- 2
They share sign-in details with you
We trust family-level trust rather than platform-level sub-accounts. Once your client passes you the email + password (or magic link), you can sign in as them.
- 3
You sign in as the student/parent
Go to Sign in, choose Student, and enter your client's email. The dashboard you'll see is exactly what they see — full school invites, message threads, accept/decline controls.
- 4
You act on their behalf
Review invites from schools, read full message threads, accept or decline. Schools can't tell whether they're talking to the family directly or to a consultant representing them — and that's by design.
✓ What you can do
- See all incoming school invites on the student's dashboard
- Read the full message thread between your client and any school (privacy waived per spec §15)
- Accept or decline invitations on the family's behalf
- Send messages to schools directly from the student's account
- Update your client's profile (region, age band, gender, contact preferences)
- Upload grade photos for OCR review (when OCR ships)
✗ What you can't do
- Create a separate
consultant@agency.comaccount — we don't allow that - Continue working after the family changes their password (access locks immediately)
- View other families' data — only the one whose credentials you have
- Use admin or school-side views — those are separate logins
- Bulk-create student accounts on behalf of multiple families in one click
- Export or download a student's full message archive (privacy boundary)
A note on privacy
You will see the full message thread between your client and any school. This is a deliberate choice — family-level trust substitutes for platform-level isolation. Make sure your client knows you'll see all communication, including replies they've already sent. If your client prefers not to share a thread, they can read it themselves and pass along only the relevant context.
Best practices
Set a regular check-in
Agree with your client on how often you'll review their inbox — weekly works for most consultants. They don't want to be forgotten and miss a school deadline.
Write as the family
Schools don't know whether they're talking to the family or a consultant. Write messages in the family's voice — first-person, signed with the student's or parent's name where possible.
Ask them to reset on exit
When you stop working with a family, ask them to use forgot password to set a new password. That immediately locks you out — no awkward email required.
Loops keep everyone informed
Forward a screenshot of important replies to your client after each interaction. They signed up to the platform, not to be left out of their own application.
Common questions
Can I have my own consultant login separate from my client's?
No — by design (spec §15.1, 2026-08-17). The earlier plan to add a 4th consultant role was superseded because consultants seeing full message threads on a separate account adds complexity without improving privacy. The current model uses family-level trust: the family shares their credentials, the consultant acts on their behalf. This is also why we require student sign-up with a personal email — we don't accept consultant@agency.com accounts.
What if I work with multiple families at once?
You'll need separate sign-in sessions for each. Use different browsers, or sign out and back in between families. The platform doesn't yet support a multi-account switcher — that's deferred scope (Phase 3 §6 admin-side dashboard).
What happens if my client forgets their password?
Standard forgot-password flow — they (or you, on their behalf, with their consent) can use /auth/forgot-password. They'll get an email with a reset link. Same as any other user.
Can my client see what I've done in their account?
Yes — the account's audit trail is the message thread itself. Every message you send on their behalf appears in the thread, attributed to the student/parent role. The family can read the same thread you can. There's no hidden action log.
